This is me about two seconds after the realisation that I had been completely and utterly stitched-up and hoodwinked had sunken in. (Thank you Mut for your photographic skills and capturing the moment so perfectly!)
This year, I reach the big four oh and my intention has been to hide in a cave and pretend that it’s not happening. However, this event is not due until the end of the year and because I’ve been saying that I don’t want a surprise party on my birthday I had one dropped on me when it wasn’t my birthday!
This was on Saturday and I’ve been meaning to update this place recently but you know how life (and computer problems) get in the way. However, I would like it to be known that my lovely fiancée Becky, my parents and friends are all sneaky gits whose clandestine skills put every intelligence service in the world to shame!! ;o)
I’d wandered into my favourite Chinese restaurant, expecting a meal with about half a dozen of us and as I walked in I - eventually - realised that the place was in fact, filled with my friends who were all grinning at me.
I couldn’t believe it - part of me still can’t. It had all been organised in complete secrecy and not the slightest hint of anything had reached me.
It was really superb to see everyone, particularly those of you who had made long journeys and interrupted busy schedules to come and point and laugh at this old git; I’m truly grateful! For those who wanted to come but couldn’t, we missed you!
It was a brilliant day and evening that took a lot of effort to put together so I would like to put on public record just how grateful I am to Bex for keeping me in the dark and getting everything arranged: thank you my Bexley xxxxxxxxx
